'PROPHET' DR KWAME NKRUMAH

To begin with, let's take An excerpt
from Kwame Nkrumah’s Speech On Independence: 6th March 1957.
"At long last, the battle has ended!
And thus Ghana, your beloved
country is free forever.... And as I
pointed out… I made it quite clear
that from now on – today – WE
MUST CHANGE OUR ATTITUDES
AND OUR MINDS....."
These were the exact speech
delivered by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame
Nkrumah during the maiden
declaration of Ghana's
independence.
But for the purpose of this article, I
will limit myself to an aspect of
Nkrumah's speech- 'WE MUST
CHANGE OUR ATTITUDES AND OUR
MINDS'.
Mind Renewing and Attitudinal
Change is very crucial in every
facet of human endeavor and
especially The Ghanian Mind.
Nkrumah made this speech 57
years ago but little or nothing has
been done about this statement.
Corruption is on the ascendency,
mismanagement of public funds,
indiscriminate throwing of rubbish,
lateness etc... Nothing seems to be
working for the Ghanaian Mind.
What happened to the change of
mind and Attitudinal Change
Nkrumah spoke about?
I'm very sure our colonial masters if
anything didn't train us to be dirty,
not time conscious, corrupt etc...
So the big question is WHERE DID
WE LEARN THESE FROM?
In this 21st century Cholera is
sweeping competent and vibrant
Ghanaians to their graves Why?
Our minds are dirty to the extent
that we cannot keep our
surroundings clean thereby fighting
a common and preventable disease
like cholera.
Our minds are dirty to the extent
that, we tend to forget our morals,
which makes us corrupt and power
drunk.
Our minds are dirty to the extent
that, we have little or no regard for
time which has brought about 'A
Ghana man Time' mantra.
It wasn't for any reason that, the
Bible said in Romans 12:2 that '....
But be ye transformed BY THE
RENEWING OF YOUR MIND'....
We cannot develop as a nation if we
don't renew and change our minds
and attitude.
'If your mind is dirty, your mind will
surely produce negative results and
if your mind is clean, positive
results will your mind produce.'
We are the future and the future is
us. Let's us change and renew our
minds.
