Taking a cue from the national
pledge, we have since childhood
recited with the depth and strength
in us, to uphold and defend the
good name of Ghanaand that God
should help us. Was it for fun, or
we just had to because it is a
national pledge? I believe it’s a
very high honor beyond value, to
serve a nation angled as the” hope
of Africa “.
It was with this drive and vision
that necessitated a very brave move
from, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah
to combat for freedom for our dear
nation, “Ama Ghana”.
“The Blackman is capable of
managing his own affairs,” a
statement that tolls in perpetuity on
my mind. Nonetheless, we have
lived in idealism and in total deceit
of this proud statement. I am
sometimes tempted to believe that
we lack the skill, intellectual and
moral uprightness to execute our
own national hopes and ambitions.
Africa and for that matter Ghana,
cannot develop sports especially
football with the exclusion of
governmental support. So, it will
only be in fairness and not too far
from right if government in a quest
to fight corruption, demands
accountability from the recipients
of government aids.
This has however, lit the flame of
confusion as to how we should
instill discipline, transparency and
fairness in our sporting cycle. So
much that, theonly recipe for all of
these, is by the establishment of
the Presidential commission of
enquiry.
This necessity stems from the
recent participation of our dear
country, Ghana, in the just ended
quadrennial international football
championship festival hosted in
Brazil. Of which we defied all odds
and dragged the name of Ghana in
the mud.
Interestingly, the GFA led by, Pres.
Kwesi Nyantakyi has developed a
resilient and tactical antic to scare
the good and discerning people of
Ghana from cleaning off this mud.
Thus, the use ofFIFA to ward off all
avenues in seeking for
accountability. They term it,
“government interference”.
Nations like France and the likes,
had all set up this very body at a
point where they doubted the
system. So what is all these hoopla
about the so called “government
interference”. I don’t believe we are
too dumb to take a cue from these
nations.
Let me hasten to bring to the
notice of the good people of Ghana.
In article 83.1 of the statute of the
FA, it clearly states,“The officials of
the Association shall be and are
hereby indemnified against all
losses, charges, damages and all
other expenses and liability they
may incur or be put to concerning
the bona fide execution of their
duties as officials of the
Association”.
In respect of this, the nation Ghana
under which we have this
association in my deduction from
the above “shall also be
indemnified of all losses incurred
concerning the imposed
responsibility by the GFA and of
the awareness of FIFA on the
government, to finance the
association.
The sole prerogative of this
commission is to find out how the
tax payers’ money was disbursed
and not to question the
technicalities of the game. In any
case, has the government ordered
for the sack of the coach or any
official? No, so why worry? We just
need answers to our money usage
at the world cup!
All Ghanaians should realize that,
we are a nation of collective
interest. Hence, there will be no
tolerance for the self-seeking gains
of any group or individuals in
neglect of the masses. After all,
FIFA sucks the blood of nations for
its survival.
Remember, nations are bigger than
associations and Ghana is no
exception. YEN ARA YEN ASAASE
NI!!!!
