KNUST ASSURES FIRE WOULD NOT AFFECT ACCOMMODATION.

Authorities at the Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science and
Technology say yesterday’s fire
outbreak at one of the halls of
residence will have no negative
impact on students
accommodation.
Fire gutted the 6th Floor of Block
“B”, of the Unity Hall destroying 10
rooms as fresh and continuing
students are set to report for a new
academic year in just three weeks
time.
At least forty students will
temporarily be denied
accommodation in the 2000
capacity hall, if renovation work
delays.
However, Deputy Registrar at the
University Relations Office, Vincent
Ankamah Lomotey, says work will
start as soon as fire officials
complete investigation.
Fire personnel are yet to establish
the cause of Wednesday’s blaze,
but there speculation an electrical
gadget belonging to some farmers
occupying the hall blew up.
Mr. Ankamah Lomotey tells Luv
News damage caused to the facility
will be fixed before students report.
“The extent of damage is not too
big for which reason we expect the
Maintenance department to be able
to fix within a maximum of two
weeks. It will not affect students’
accommodation in anyway because
the rooms that were affected are
few.”
