Ghana duo of Asamoah Gyan and
Andre Ayew have been named
among the ten best African
players at the 2014 World Cup by
a French newspaper .
The poll by readers of Jeune
Afrique named ten African players
who excelled at the tournament
in Brazil but excluded other top
Ghana performers .
The result was dominated by
players of Nigeria and Algeria
who both made it to the second
round of the competition in the
South American country .
The best African player of the
World Cup went to Algerian
international Sofiane Feghouli
who had (30. 63% ) of the votes
with his compatriot Islam Slimani
coming second while Nigeria
goalkeeeper Vincent Enyeama
placed third.
Asamoah Gyan placed 8th and
was closely followed by Andre
Ayew who were the other top
performers from Africa at the
World Cup.
The midfielder who plays for
Spanish side Valencia had a very
good tournament was one of the
spearheads of the Fennecs.
Feghouli scored a goal against
Belgium and delivered two
assists .
Ranked second, is another
Algerian: Islam Slimani .
The striker of the Portuguese
side Sporting Lisbon had 24.30 %
of the votes .
With two goals and an assist , he
was one of the great architects of
the historic qualification of
Algeria to the second round .
Ranked third with 20 .44% of
votes is goalkeeper Victor
Enyeama of Nigeria impressed
throughout the tournament for
the Super Eagles . He produced
high class saves in the match
against France and the first
round clash against Bosnia .
