Picked up a taxi this morning,
driven by a 40 year old man. Our
conversation led us to talk about
what we do for a living. He works
on the work-and-pay system
where he pays his car owner an
agreed amount at the end of every
month. He has a family of four
children all of school going age. He
pays an average of GHS 150 per
ward for a term. Car owner expects
not less than GHS 800 a month.
He makes an average monthly
amount between GHS 700-GHS
1000. Fuel prices have now
skyrocketed, car owner is
demanding for more money, school
fees have been increased, Payment
for rent is knocking loudly, utility
tariffs have doubled. How long will
a man in his 40s continue to hold
on and provide the BASIC NEEDS
for his family?
This is the trickling effect when the
government becomes inept, corrupt
and woefully insensitive to the
plight of the ordinary Ghanaian.
This is NOT a story of one taxi
driver, this is the story of all the
suffering masses whom the
government have put in this
quagmire based on NO fault of
ours! When people queued and
slept at polling stations to cast
their votes, they didn't do that to
suffer, they saw an opportunity
where people who will be selected
as leaders will lead them in the
right way. The Good book says
"and lead us not into temptation",
We say 'AND LEAD US NOT INTO
DESTRUCTION"
Oman! Ghana..hmm #istillloveGhana #occupyGhana!
