Get ready for Google L! For get KitKat.

Forget Android KitKat, get ready for
Google L, the next version of the
search giant’s amazing smartphone
operating system.

Google’s just
announced the new release as a
Developer Preview on stage at its
Google I/O keynote – read on for all
the details!

Apple may have set the bar high with
the newly announced iOS 8 for
iPhone, but Google’s determined to
clear it.
Speaking on stage at the
Google I/O keynote in California,
Android design boss Matias Duarte
revealed the – presumably
codenamed – Google L release,
which promises a fresh new look.
First up: a new lick of paint to better
fit all the new Android form factors,
from mobiles and tablets to
smartwatches. Google’s design ethos
is now changing to incorporate all of
its different form factors: the Google
“material design” is completely
responsive and draws inspiration
from the real world too. Developers
can now define an “elevation value”
for certain UI elements: meaning a
text message pop-up for example will
include global lights and shadows, all
in real time, and almost like in 3D.
Every change is also animated too,
while fonts have been redesigned to
work on tiny watch faces as well as
TV screens.
